Although there is a major run of art fairs happening in NYC next week with the Armory Show gearing up, the weekend before always is fun withe ADAA: The Art Show at the Park Avenue Armory. We have been following all the galleries and their showings at ADAA, with some major highlights. But the booth that wowed us is Pace Prints presentation of Who's Got Team Spirit?, a solo booth of works by former Juxtapoz cover artist, Nina Chanel Abney. The works presented are unique collages on panel.

The vibrant work is a bit of departure for Abney, not so much in content but even more bold and daring than her previous bodies of work. In a year of some incredible shows already, Abney's work at ADAA is a standout. She says of this presentation: "Inequality is ever so present and racial tensions are boiling.  A collapse is impending and we are all standing on shaky ground. American patriotism has become synonymous with White Nationalism. The fight against racial injustice has become 'unpatriotic.' Given the current state of America, what does it mean to celebrate the Fourth of July? To proudly display an American flag in your yard? To stand up for the National Anthem...or not?

"Pondering all of these questions, this exhibition is an exploration of the symbols of American patriotism, and how their meanings and implications shift depending on the context in which they are placed and how their presence influences a narrative."

Pace Prints can be found at Booth D11 at ADAA: The Art Show through March 1, 2020.
