Jonathan Lyndon Chase's work is a vivacious exploration of identity. In his past works, there was a unique ability to blur boundaries between figuration and abstraction, deftly bringing forth the intimate and often unseen layers of human existence. In Downpour, at Sadie Coles in London, Chase is being his most bold, his characters like superheroes in their world, ultimately forging a vibrant testament to the continually evolving narrative of contemporary Black art, but also comic book and narrative art.
