KP PROJECTS GALLERY is proud to present Jennybird Alcantara’s newest solo exhibition, As Viewed from Inside, an intimate and masterful exploration of inner worlds as an endeavor to fuse chaos into stillness.

Jennybird Alcantara’s oil paintings are known for their lush, densely layered imagery that merges nature with anthropomorphic creatures in rich, surreal landscapes. In her newest exhibition, the artist presents a collection of work that evokes self-reflection, intuitive wisdom, and visceral moments of dream-like escape. The paintings serve as mirrors into worlds that seem both familiar and fantastical, highlighting the inherent connection between all living things.

"Thematically, these works represent aspects of the heart, blending some of my favorite colors, shapes and objects together to entice the observer into distant landscapes and worlds within. My hope is that what is found is something deeply personal, and in turn that the work is made meaningful in a way that is separate from what it means to me as the artist.”

Replete with symbolic and archetypal cues, Alcantara’s flourishing, tactile environments reveal the endless and magical bounty found in nature. Each piece unfolds like a story, beautifully balanced with fable and fantasy. The artist describes her process like a dance in which she leads until the painting pushes in a direction that it needs to go, admittedly taking on a life of its own.

In addition to her traditional oil paintings on panel, Alcantara is introducing a unique collection of hybrid works in which multiple paintings are hand-stitched together, forming a new and cohesive whole. The narratives that emerge from these stream-of-consciousness works underscore her ability to synthesize disparate elements into harmonious compositions, much like the dualistic tranquility that underscores the exhibition as a whole.
