Hilary Pecis is getting more and more confident as a painter of pattern and decoration. What she continues to acheive, and in her new show Warm Rhythm at David Kordansky in NYC demonstrates, is that she has envelopee a lush vision of California, Los Angeles-specifically, creating a fantastical place. She captures angles and color so vividly,  and in one particular painting, Winter in LA, she creates a warmth and scenic backdrop that feels familiar but almost in a dream-like sense. Perhaps her strongest works to date, considered and loose, bright and yet subtle, a nod to the P&D movement but something of her own. —Evan Pricco
