Modern West will open Reframed, an exhibition celebrating the works of women artists influenced by the modern and contemporary West. This group show will be on display March 21 through May 3, 2024.

The exhibition will feature artworks by Modern West represented artists Shalee Cooper, Al Denyer, Angela Ellsworth, Kiki Gaffney, Suzanne Hill, Jiyoun Lee-Lodge, Beatrice Mandelman, V. Kim Martinez, Pia van Nuland and Diane Tuft, along with guest artists Rebecca Campbell and Bailey Rigby.

Reframed accentuates the diverse methodologies of twelve modern and contemporary women artists, interwoven through their experience of social expectation, landscape and environment. The exhibition showcases how these women use their work to challenge traditional narratives and reframe our perceptions of the American West.

“Modern West’s mission has always been to support artists that uniquely push the boundaries in  redefining the West,” says Shalee Cooper, Director & Curator of Modern West. “This show celebrates women who question historical ways of being and continue to transform their personal experiences into universal understandings.”
