Spoke Art is excited to announce the ninth iteration of Bad Dads, a dynamic group exhibition featuring over seventy-five artists celebrating the films of American director Wes Anderson. Expanding the scope with each iteration, this latest version of the highly-anticipated exhibition features artistic homages to both Anderson’s newest and most beloved films.
Pulling its annual title from a common thread in each Anderson movie—that the father figures are absent, immature, awful—each artwork highlights a unique facet from one of Anderson’s twelve features. From THIS IS FUN, ISN’T IT’s vintage comic book rendition of perhaps the most memorable scene from Moonrise Kingdom to Isabella Addison’s portrayal of the iconic Margo Tenenbaum as an angry Margaret Keane figure, the nearly 100 works in the exhibition offer a spectacular range of character portraits and stylized film stills for Anderson lovers to love even more.
Join Spoke Art at 54 Ludlow Street for the opening of Bad Dads IX on Saturday, October 12th with a reception from 6-8 pm. As is customary, the opening reception will be a Wes Anderson film costume party— costumes are not required, but are highly encouraged. Several limited edition prints will be available only at the opening in NYC with online releases announced afterwards.
