Superchief Gallery NYC is bringing back some of Troma Entertainment's classics for TROMA FILM FEST, featuring Return to Return to Nuke 'Em High Vol. 2The Toxic Avenger, and Tromeo and Juliet

Troma Entertainment is an American independent film company founded by Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz in 1974. The company has produced low-budget, independent horror films, which feature elements of farce, parody, gore, and splatter that play on 1950s horror.

Troma's films are B-movies known for their surrealist, automatist nature and use of shocking imagery that typically contains overt sexuality, nudity, and intentionally sadistic, gory, and graphic violence.

Troma repeatedly uses the same props, actors, and scenes to save money, and at a certain point, it became another hallmark of the company. Examples include a severed leg, a penis monster, and a flipping and exploding car, which was filmed for the movie Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D. and is used in place of any other car that needs to crash and explode.

Learn more about Troma Entertainment in an interview with founder Lloyd Kaufman.

TROMA FILM FEST opens at Superchief Gallery NYC on August 23, 2019. Doors open at 7:00 pm, $10 Entry and Beer provided by Pabst Blue Ribbon.
